Paterson Coalition for Opioid Assessment and Response

A space for data transparency, education, and awareness related to Paterson, New Jersey’s view of the opioid epidemic.

How we work

Data-Driven

The Paterson Coalition for Opioid Assessment and Response (COAR) is a multi-disciplinary group dedicated to collecting and analyzing data related to the opioid epidemic.

COAR presents its data findings, as well as programming and policy decisions to the community on a quarterly basis. We invite addiction treatment providers, community leaders, doctors, and residents to participate and bring the tough questions.

How we work

ACTION-ORIENTED

The Paterson Opioid Response Team (ORT) is the ground-force that puts COAR’s data-driven interventions into action.

The ORT is composed of specially-trained law enforcement, medical first-responders, and outreach/peer support professionals. We invite current and potential ORT members to engage in educational/training opportunities so they can learn how to better support those suffering with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD).

Mortality-Reducing, Patient-Centric Approaches to Recovery

COAR and its partners are seeking to de-stigmatize and increase access to Medically-Assisted Treatment (MAT) options which are viable, medically-appropriate pathways toward recovery.

Supported & Sustained by Various Funders

COAR and ORT efforts are primarily funded through the federal Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA), by way of the US Department of Justice, the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General and New Jersey State Police, and the Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR).
